This morning, I am in a blogging mood. As there are many opps on PPP and other programs, I am taking the opportunity to snap them up. Is it not everyday that you have so many offers like today. In fact, it was becoming scarce to take opps from PPP some time back recently. Since there are at least 50,000 bloggers who have signed up, imaging the competition to take up the opps daily. Almost immediately they are snapped up. I guess blogging is in my blood since I also work from home office with a broadband internet connection.
Afternoon naps are good for you if you have the luxury of working from home. Now and then, I go for my afternoon naps for a while. It is not good to be in front of the computer for so long, so a nice break would suffice. Even as I blog, I talk walks in between to rest my eyes and fingers from the keyboard and monitor. And normally after lunch, when all the blood goes to the stomach, that is the time I take my naps in the day. My sleep is important, and I don’t sacrifice my sleep for the computer.
Nowadays, to really earn money, you need to get your own domain for your WordPress blog and not hosted on other’s site. If you write reviews and get paid through PayPerPost, now you really need to have your blog hosted in your own domain to ever take any opportunities. They don’t seem to accept blogspot blogs anymore from the trend unlike in the good old days last year. Thank goodness I have 3 blogs hosted in my own domain and am still able to take some opps recently. Your domains are like your online real estate. They generate income for you as in my case.
This coming Thursday, I shall be in Tanah Merah in Kelantan to see a potential client in sports business project. He wants to build a rubberized sports court. I guess the journey by car will take around 5-6 hours from Penang. I just pray for journey mercies for this trip and that nothing will happen to the car while on our way there. Most likely, I will stay overnight there before coming back. Sometimes you need to meet up with people to secure and finalise a deal especially for sports courts. They want to see you and check if they can trust you with initial deposit payment upon confirmation.
I just came back from an appointment with my speech therapist in Loh Guan Lye Hospital. The speech pathologist section was located near LGL hospital but at the junction of Macalister Road at the round about. This is my second time visiting my speech therapist, Ms Ang. I kind of lost my voice in June 2006 and my voice is not normal at the moment. I had to suck in the air to speak out instead of the other way round. The first visit cost RM183 and the package of 4 times cost RM323. I guess I have to laugh more often to get back my normal voice.
I have emailed my client a quotation for this sports courts in Shah Alam. Yesterday, he emailed me that he will consider doing business with us provided with lower the price. We have already given him a rock bottom price and yet he asked for further reduction. It is difficult to do business with a Chinese. They keep pressing you for further reduction until you hardly ever make money or just enough to cover the expenses of your staffs and materials. The Malays are more generous, perhaps because they get easy projects from the government and have the money. The trend is changing because the Chinese are not able to get projects directly from the Government, while the Bumiputra contractors are being spoilt and very dependant on the Government for all projects.
For the first time, I stayed in Sunway Hotel near Macalister Road and KOMTAR. It cost RM190 per night without breakfast. The furnishings were modern and upgraded. However, upon walking near the lift on the 12th floor, there was strong smell of cigarette without any sign of smoke seen nearby. I thought people were not allowed to smoke in an air-con building. But not so in Malaysia. They smoke like a chimney, air-con or not in shopping malls, hotels and in restaurants.
Just outside Sunway Hotel were a lot of eating stalled and food ‘kopi tiams’ or food cafes for my overseas readers. I ordered fried fish cutlets with fried mee suah and 10 sticks of chicken satay. This is a food paradise for many locals. You can seen the place buzzing with diners and many hawker stalls selling various local food. The Chinese are a eating lot. Wherever you see hawker stalls, there you will find plenty of Chinese eating away. And since they are hardworking and richer, why not?
Last night, I came back from Kuala Lumpur at around 8:00pm. It drizzled slightly during the trip back. As my colleague was tired after so much driving around to meet clients, I drove back from KL to Tapah which took about 1 hour. We stopped in Tapah for dinner and I bought some fruits like a pomelo, 2 huge mangoes, pink apple custard and green apple custard. My parents love fruits, as they are rich in vitamins and minerals. It was a successful business trip but quite a hectic one.
It rained last night and this morning. Boy, it was so comfortable sleeping under my silk comforter on the bed. Normally I wake up at around 7:30am but this morning, I slept a little later waking up at almost 9:00am. That is the priviledge of working from home. Anyway, after blogging for a while, I am off to faxing a quotation for a sports court in Perlis. Hopefully we can get the deal soon.
Above is a video of John Chow being interviewed about driving traffic to your site. If you have not heard of John Chow, he is the blog mogul who makes around USD17,000 in August 2007. This guy rocks and is dead serious about making a living off the internet. He has also written a free ebook to give away in order to drive traffic to his blogs. Check out the YouTube video above.
