My broadband line is very slow these few days. Could it be that more people get online during Christmas and over the holidays? It is freaking slow and I have to wait for a long time before any web site is fully loaded. Did you notice this on your side? The pace is slow and I am also not in the mood to blog too often lest of revealing too much secrets and personal life. Eyes are all over and the slightest mistake, gossips happen. That is why you notice that there are fewer photos and talk of travels nowadays. Naturally my Google Adsense is not much to shout about but then who cares?
It is that time of the year again for season’s greetings with snow flakes, christmas trees, santa claus and presents. If you have got a wish, tell it to Santa who might just grant you your wish this year. And you can remember this special occasion of Christmas time by using CEIVA Digital Photo Frame and have your photos uploaded online and see the amazing digital photo frame encapsulate your beautiful photos for posterity and down memory lane. What makes CEIVA different than other digital photo frames is that it is uniquely designed and offers faster upload. You can also share the picture with your friends and families for that personal touch and greetings.
Digital photos frames save you space from buying physical frames to be used on the table or cabinet. All you need to do is just turn on your computer, and view your images that are frames in digital photo frames for a complete look and for your photo album. They promise to last a lifetime, will not fade over time and can be view over and over again. This reminds me to go for some Christmas shopping but on a smaller scale. It is a time to remember Jesus who came as a baby in a manger two thousand years ago to save mankind from eternal sin. This is a time to share the good news to everyone so that they can have Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour.
I am back from a short trip outstation but am still down with flu. Went to see the doctor last night upon my return and this is the third time I am seeing a doctor but a different clinic. I went to a 24-hour clinic as the previous doctor has closed his clinic at 9:30pm and there was hardly anyone around. I still have a lot of phlegm and mucus around my throat and I need to cough them out instead of swallowing the easy way out. I guess I will mostly rest this Christmas and there won’t be any celebration of sorts but just the normal routine on that day. I am not sure if I can attend church Christmas Eve service at 9:00pm.
I have been having flu, cough, sore throat and running nose for the past 1 week and have finished my medication but still coughing with phlegm. Though I have taken many nice photos of Christmas trees for the occasion, I don’t have the mood to put them up as I need more rest and sleep to recover quickly. Life has its ups and downs, quirks and challenges. I don’t have to go on and on but would like to take this opportunity to wish my readers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2009. By the way, there will be a Christmas Eve service at 9:00pm in my church and after that proceed to singing carols on the ground floor and un-churched friends are invited.
After taking a good break of like one and a half years upon returning to Penang from Singapore, I decided to offer freelance web designing from home to start earning an income again. But the money that trickle in was not sufficient to pay for the monthly expenses. It was just sufficient to cover my cost of hosting with a bit more for saving up. I also had to checked many web host for the best deal so that I can provide competitive price for my clients. They must have 99% guarantee uptime which is very important and 24 hour technical support. So far, I managed to design about 4-5 web sites for those customers of mine and some have already stopped hosting though I still showcase their web sites in my portfolio.
There is also free search engine marketing provided besides designing a web site that loads quickly. Although now I still take up freelance web designing, but the job is more scarce since a lot of people know HTML and adding images using Frontpage. They can do it by themselves without seeking help from freelancers like me. Hence, my work nowadays revolves around writing articles and updating my blog posts plus working for my boss in a home office to save costs and transport.
This is my December PayPal payment for work done in November 2008. Today I got paid USD 201.71 and another smaller payment of USD11.90 for writing articles for a US company. It is one of my highest so far and this month I am not sure if I can match the payment for December as everyday, there will be articles to write. Sometimes revisions are required and I have written about 50 articles with 1 reject so far. The USD30 was paid out to a company for the cost of express post to send a sample to my boss. I managed to find online the company that sells the material that he needed which was Velcro. Sometimes I just wish I have higher traffic to earn more from my blogs but there there is the trade off of working by the computer almost all the time to get people to visit your blogs and to have many supportive comments.
I don’t have the time unlike some blogger housewife to update my blogs every day as I still have to work in the home office attending to quotations, drawings with Autocad, etc. Hence the USD549.71 earned within a month calculates to exactly RM2,000 at 3.64 exchange rate. If only I can earn RM2,000 part time every month from the internet, it will be a bonus for me.
He walks. He runs. And perhaps most importantly, he inspires us all to dream. Meet ASIMO – the dancing, talking, batik-painting and futsal-playing robot created by Honda’s Research & Development Wako Fundamental Technical Research Centre in Tokyo, Japan. ASIMO is the acronym for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility and was born on 31st October 2000. The first time he came to Malaysia was in 2003 and recently was spotted in Queensbay Mall recently in 2008 to thrill thousands of spectators especially children.
Meet ASIMO, Honda’s humanoid robot who charmed thousands during a roadshow at a shopping mall in Bayan Baru, Penang over the weekend. When he came on stage, the 1.3m and 54kg ASIMO greeted the audience and proceeded to introduce himself. After that, he drew gasps of awe and loud clappings as he demonstrated his abilities.
“I can run like you too! Wanna see?” he teased. After counting down from three to one and Go, Asimo started running on stage, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
He then proceeded to dance and ask the crowd, “Why don’t you dance with me today?” Children eagerly put up their hands to dance with the cute and cheeky robot. After dancing, Asimo showed off a recently acquired skill – batik painting.
For his final act, Asimo demonstrated his futsal skills by kicking a ball on stage. Then, playing the role of a courteous waiter, he served drinks to some lucky people in the audience. According to Wikipedia, there are 46 Asimo units in existence as of 2007. Each cost less than RM3.8 million to manufacture and some units are available to be hired out for about RM630,000 per year.
This was a chance in a lifetime and I was glad to be at the right time to witness Asimo in the shopping mall over the weekend. It is better than taking photos so many Christmas trees around December and makes an exciting post to my blog. Though I was in KL recently, I did not go to Sunway Pyramid as I grew blase to it with all the Christmas decos. But some suaku blogger love to be there to capture photos for her blog like it was something new.
