Going to KL later

Today I will be going to KL for business and to accompany my colleague. We will depart Penang during lunch time and I am not sure when I will be back yet, hopefully before my youngest sister’s birthday on 11th March 2012. My mum has tentatively booked a restaurant for my sister where she will treat the family for a birthday dinner. Today, I just typed out 2 invoices and a quotation. Woke up quite early today, before 7:00 am to have a quick breakfast and then to fire off my computer and start working. Just pray for journey mercies for the 400km trip down to KL with stopover in Bidor, Perak to meet up with a potential client.

I started out as a web designer freelancing in my home office way back in 2002. My web designing skills were self-taught by joining web designing forums and I have learnt quite a lot from the internet. Early this year, I have been approached for web design work but thank goodness I had to turn it down due to commitment to current work – otherwise I will be very busy like a bee switching between two jobs at one go. Besides, some of the requirements are beyond my knowledge and I don’t have the time to do research on the internet just for the skill. So it is better to let the professionals handle it and earn their keep. Besides, they are trained and learnt all the necessary skills in college to build a functional web site with content management added. My web design skills are self taught and all learnt from the internet and from joining forums of related topic. But I can still offer static web design pages if the requirements are simple and straight forward.

Going to KL tomorrow

I might be going to KL tomorrow for business. My colleague and I will meet up with a potential client there before we come back to Penang after 1 or 2 days there. Just last week, I was also in KL, also for business. It is good to have a thriving business where we can get enquiries now and then and some serious customers wish to meet up with us for the project. The only way to be rich is through investment, inheritance, marrying into rich spouse and doing a successful business. You can also be wealthy if you have a specialist talent and knowledge like being a lawyer, doctor, engineer, accountant, etc. but working for other people is slower to be rich compared to doing your own business. Unfortunately, 95% of businesses fail in the first 5 years of operation and have to wind down. Only the remaining 5% will strike it rich.

I have been blogging for several years now since late 2006. It started off as a hobby initially and then ventured into money making opportunities from advertisements. To earn money from your site, you need to have decent traffic. Visited a Potential Client in Kelana Jaya

Yesterday, we visited a potential client at his office in Kelana Jaya, about 10 minutes from USJ via the new highway. He has to submit the tender and it was his wife’s business. She was the one who contacted me and since I was unable to have a conference using Skype with her, we met up with the husband who is a footballer. The tender closes in the first week of November and I hope they will be successful to clinch the deal. In the meantime, they are doing all the research and check on pricing before renting a piece of government land. That’s all I can say – no more further details.

Of course I knew that there are several sites out there offering paid blog posts. However, I did not have a closer look so far, because I was under the impression that paid blog reviews are expensive and you have to expect to pay around $20 for a post. I am glad I now had a closer look and gave one service of this kind a try. The paid blog post service I joined some days ago is Linkfromblog.

After I signed up I added one of my domains and soon after I started receiving bids from blog owners willing to review my blog and write a short review. Short reviews are about 200 words. I was pretty suprised when I noticed that you can get a blog review from a PR3 blog for as low as $2 (of course prices vary).

I immediately deposited $20 in my account (there is a 20% service fee, that’s how Linkfromblog makes money). Out of the 35 bids I received I chose a total of 5 blogs (PR between 1 and 3) and accepted the bid. I am very pleased with the service provided and will add it to my arsenal of marketing methods.
