Back to Work

Diana's Diary, General 2 Comments

Last nite was very noisy with a lot of sounds of firecrackers when I was about to sleep. I am also in a holiday mood after the long break but need to start working today. I guess I have also put on some weight after much eating over the week with my sisters in Hatyai. No doubt, it was enjoyable and we plan to do this every year. Generally life has been good to me and I have been blessed with a steady job to work at home, good friends and with left over to save for my retirement unlike a certain blogger who talks about creativity but has no creative ideas to maintain a job or to earn money and is struggling to feed herself and her famished dog. Her idea of creativity is how to cheat the company of honest working hours and to find fault with others to appear as doing her ‘job’. I have the unfortunate time of working with this specimen and only found out all her bad habits after I have left the job. And I hope she is reading this post!

Buying Gold during Chinese New Year

Diana's Diary, General, Investment No Comments

During Chinese New Year, the Chinese will bring out their gold jewellery from the bank to wear them on this festive occasion. They will be busy visiting friends and families and give out red packets of money or ‘ang pows’ to children or unmarried youths. If you have the spare cash to invest, it is a good idea to buy gold bullion to hedge against inflation. And recently, it was in the news that both China and India invested billions in tons of Gold instead of the USA greenback which keeps falling since some time ago. You will never go wrong when you invest in gold and my local Public bank account allows clients to open a GSA or Gold Savings Account to trade in gold bars by the weight.

Back from Hatyai and Nice Photos

yee sang

My family and I are now back from a wonderful trip to Hatyai where we bought a lot of toiletries and cosmetics and lingerie. The Wacoal brand there is so much cheaper compared to Penang and I also bought from Triumph. We had salad at a Singapore brand restaurant called Sizzlers. Some of the photos here were taken in Penang while others were taken in Hatyai. Above is the ‘yee sang’ that we had last night where we tossed it for luck.

bento set

This is a bento set when we had dinner in Fuji restaurant in Hatyai. My youngest sister ordered this while I had avocado salad, below.

avacado salad

Don’t this look tempting? I decided to eat something lighter as I had put on 1 kg already over the last few days. I like the decoration and the way they cut it out.

cherry blossoms

This photos was taken in a hotel lobby with the cherry blossoms and potted chrysanthemums decorating the place.

bamboo shoots

This is a mesmerizing photo of the prosperity bamboo shoots which was place in the hotel.

4 seasons on a platter

This is one of the dishes I had in Penang some time back – 4 seasons on a platter – in a local restaurant.

gong xi fa chai

Gong Xi Fa Chai – which means Happy Chinese New Year in Mandarin.

happy chinese new year 2010

I would like to wish my readers a Happy and Prosperous New Year of the Tiger 2010. There will be a break from blogging for 1 week as I will be going to Haadyai with my family for 3 days and 2 nights starting from tomorrow early in the morning where the van will come to my house to pick us up. My youngest sister did all the arrangement including booking of van and hotel stays.

Here are some eye candy for you of Chinese New Year themes and pictures. Meanwhile don’t eat too much and watch out of that weight.

Napping Feels So Good

Diana's Diary No Comments

I have been napping a lot lately and it feels so good. No kids to attend to, no classes to wait for at least an hour and just pure enjoyment of napping under the comforters in an air con room. Since I work from a home office, I can afford to take naps in between when I need to rest my eyes from the glare of the computer monitor. I can also hide myself in my room from pesky parents. No need to hear complaints of in-law problems that has happened so many years ago and my paternal grandma has already passed away in 2007. It is time to move on for a better life with the renewal of the mind each day. And I am going back to nap again after blogging this post. Ta!

Lim Guan Eng Came to My Church

Diana's Diary, News No Comments

Penang’s current chief minister, Lim Guan Eng, came to my church to reassure us of the safety of the churches in Penang following the attacks in 4 churches in KL over the “Allah” issue. He came for the 9:00 am service and read out the sermon on the Mount and 1 Corinthians 13 on Love. It was recorded on video and when I came for the 11:00 am service, it was shown to us. He also went to The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit to reassure the parishers there and then went off to another church in Prai, Butterworth. Today’s message on Love and Forgiveness wasn’t co-incidental. It was divinely planned and we all had a good time hearing Pastor Yeoh Guan Hock preach and sing. With such care and immediate response shown by the Penang Government, I hope Lim Guan Eng will continue to helm the Penang Government in the next general election.

Good Bye 2009, Welcome 2010

Diana's Diary, Food for Thought, News No Comments

2009 brought many fond memories, some with good news, some not so good news. It was also a good year working at home with some travels to meet clients. It also marked the passing away of Michael Jackson on 25th June. Last night, I was at Penang Sports Club Dinner And Dance to usher in the new year and stayed for the countdown. We sang Auld Lang Syne just before the stroke of midnight and when 2010 came, tons of colourful baloons were let down with the tiny ‘pop’ sound by pulling the string. As a contractor for Penang Sports Club in building 4 tennis courts, we had to buy the tickets and invited a relative and his friend along. I cannot imagine now is 2010; time flies so fast and before you know it, it is the end of another year. 2008 came and we watched Beijing Olympics on Astro, then came 2009 and now it is 2010. Wow, we should live for the moment and enjoy every precious time and day.

Sexy Dresses

Christmas, Diana's Diary, Products 4 Comments

Christmas is over and sometimes I wish it had been here longer. Time flies so fast and before you know it, it is the end of the year again and time to usher in the new year of 2010. I have opened my Christmas gift and it is 2 bottles of perfume from my youngest sister. I gave her ‘ang pow’ or red packet of money instead. Some of you might open up your Christmas presents to find personal gifts like Sexy Dresses, make-up, jewellery, shoes or just about anything that you can buy from the retail stores.

And last night, my sister treated us dinner at a German Restaurant in Tanjung Bungah and the place was always packed with diners. Some who did not make any bookings were turned away. Or they had to sit at the bar with high stools and dine there. The boss is the cook himself – which explains why the food is so delicious. And it is time for me to take a break from eating too much and putting on weight this season.

Some News About Lasik Surgery

Diana's Diary, News, Services, Sponsored Reviews No Comments

I was googling around for some information on Lasik which is a type of refractive surgery for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. LASIK is performed by ophthalmologists using a laser. The good thing about Lasik is that it can reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses.

You might also like to know that Lasik is the most often performed surgery in the US. Lasik vision recovery can be as little as a few hours, but most see well in about a day or two and normally has no pain. US Lasik results data is available at http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik-results-1.htm while General Lasik information and surgery video is available at http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik.htm

Stahl Eye Center has been serving patients for more than 35 years. The Stahl Eye Center doctors’ patient outcomes have been independently verified by nonprofit Lasik patient advocacy USAEyes to meet or exceed the national norms for Lasik results. Fewer than 100 doctors nationwide have attained this certification. Stahl Eye Center doctors are graduates from top universities such as UCLA, John Hopkins and Yale.

If I have the excess cash, who knows, I might just go for a Lasik surgery as currently I am wearing glasses due to short sightedness or myopia as it is scientifically known. Over here, everyone is wearing glasses and myopia seems to run in my family.

Looney Tunes “Jingle Bells” Sing-A-Long

Christmas, Diana's Diary, Entertainment, YouTube No Comments

This is a 5 star rating Youtube video of Looney Tunes “Jingle Bells” Sing-A-Long. Just watchh it to see and judge for yourself. I certainly loved it with a certain twist. And it is 7:20am now on a public holiday – what am I doing here by the computer when I should be still in bed, you might think. Well, being the computer addict that I am, I have to wake up early to check on mails or see any thing else to do before preparing for my working trip to KL later today. And I need to get a quotation out by today before the planned trip. So, working at home – whether holidays or not – it entirely up to you.
