Untimely Deaths

Christian Stuffs, Food for Thought, General No Comments

DID YOU KNOW THESE FACTS? I SURE DIDN’T TILL NOW

Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death!
Make a personal reflection about this….. Very interesting, read until the end……
It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7): ‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sow, that shall he also reap’.

Here are some men and women who mocked God :

  • John Lennon (Singer):
  • Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said:
‘Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that. I am certain..
Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him’ (1966).
Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.

  • Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil ):
  • During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency. Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.

  • Cazuza (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet):
  • During A show in Canecio ( Rio de Janeiro ), while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said:’God, that’s for you..’ He died at the age of 32 of LUNG CANCER in a horrible manner.

  • The man who built the Titanic
  • After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be.
With an ironic tone he said: ‘Not even God can sink it’. The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic

  • Marilyn Monroe (Actress)
  • She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: ‘I don’t need your Jesus’. A week later, she was found dead in her apartment.

  • Bon Scott (Singer)
  • The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: ‘Don’t stop me; I’m going down all the way, down the highway to hell’. On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit.

  • Campinas (IN 2005)
  • In Campinas , Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend…..The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: ‘My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You.’ She responded: ‘Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, Cause Inside Here…..It’s Already Full ‘ Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be ecognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken.

  • Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer)
  • said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written. In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle. Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus. Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive. ‘Jesus’

PS: If it was a joke, you would have sent it to everyone. So are you going to have courage to send this?.
I have done my part, Jesus said ‘If you are embarrassed about me, I will also be embarrassed about you before my father.’

‘Lord, I love you and I need you, come into my heart, and bless me, my family, my home, and my friends, in Jesus’ name. Amen.’

    Good Bye 2009, Welcome 2010

Diana's Diary, Food for Thought, News No Comments

2009 brought many fond memories, some with good news, some not so good news. It was also a good year working at home with some travels to meet clients. It also marked the passing away of Michael Jackson on 25th June. Last night, I was at Penang Sports Club Dinner And Dance to usher in the new year and stayed for the countdown. We sang Auld Lang Syne just before the stroke of midnight and when 2010 came, tons of colourful baloons were let down with the tiny ‘pop’ sound by pulling the string. As a contractor for Penang Sports Club in building 4 tennis courts, we had to buy the tickets and invited a relative and his friend along. I cannot imagine now is 2010; time flies so fast and before you know it, it is the end of another year. 2008 came and we watched Beijing Olympics on Astro, then came 2009 and now it is 2010. Wow, we should live for the moment and enjoy every precious time and day.

4 things you should never do with your credit cards

Finance, Food for Thought, General, Money No Comments

4 things you should not do with your credit cards
Susan McCarthy, a financial adviser in Oklahoma City and author of The Value of Money, lists her top four credit card don’ts:

    1. Don’t make only the minimum payments. This stretches out your payment and, thanks to the interest, significantly increases your overall cost.

    2. Don’t carry too many cards. Multiple cards make it easier to rack up debt because it’s harder to keep track of your spending. Having lots of cards isn’t necessarily bad for your credit, but misusing them is. So limit your plastic to two national cards (store cards often carry higher interest rates) that you manage carefully.

    3. Don’t miss payment due dates. Not only will you be hit with a late fee-as high as $39 on some cards-but your interest rate could also jump. Sign up for online banking or pay over the phone if you’re up against the deadline. (You may pay a processing fee, but it will probably be less than the late fee and the possible interest-rate hike.)

    4. Don’t take cash advances. These advances generally come with sky-high interest rates and service fees, making them a far too expensive way to get cash. Avoid at all costs.

Don’t Grow Up Depressed – Listen to Pastor Joseph Prince’s Message CDs

Diana's Diary, Food for Thought No Comments

Children who have been caned a lot unnecessarily will grow up being depressed adults. So parents, the more caning you do, the more harm you bring to your child. The old fashioned mentality is that the more caning they get, the better adults they will become. This is no longer true. Research has shown that depressed and unhappy people tend to fall sick and even get cancer. Hence, cancer is linked to depression. One way I unwind and relax is to listen to Pastor Joseph Prince of New Creation Church message CDs. This guy is really funny and humorous. Plus the fact that he is very annointed by God and very humble despite his popularity around the world. And indeed New Creation Church is the best church in Suntec City, if not the world for Protestants. I simply love to hear Pastor Prince preach a good sermon. It is cathartic and better than any other feel good medication. Just Google around for Pastor Joseph Prince and you will find a lot of resources.

Good Trip to Taiping, KL and Melaka

Diana's Diary, Food for Thought, YouTube No Comments

I came back yesterday with my 2 sisters after a road trip to Taiping’s Zoo and Night Safari which is comparable to the one in Singapore. For RM16 per person, a free ride in the tram took us round the Night Safari. It was interesting to watch the animals at night. Then I drove down to Melaka where we stayed in Baba House in town and had nonya food in the afternoon. My second sister’s friend met up with us and showed us the nice nonya food. At night, my youngest sister’s friend brought us around where we had dinner at a Portuguese Settlement where all the food are home cooked. The butter cheese crab was superb! Then we had a river ride with singing and entertainment along the way. Thereafter, we went to try coconut pudding at a Chinese restaurant which is a must try. Then we walked around Jonker Street, something like a night market for tourists and locals alike. My sister bought pineapple tarts filled to the rim with pineapple.

The next day, after breakfast my sister drove down to Impiana KLCC Hotel which is a 5 star hotel within walking distance to KLCC. In the evening, we met up with ‘Adik’, my second sister’s colleague who reports to her directly and together with his best friend Jason, we went to Starhill Gallery to have a Japanese buffet in Jogoya. Imagine the long queue even with booking on a Saturday evening. Since there is a promotion of buy one free one, we invited our friends who became our tour guides for the day.

On the fourth day, we did shopping in Marks & Spencer where the clothes range from size 10 to 20. As they were having a sale, we each bought something from the retail shop. Then with the help of a map and GPS, we drove out of KLCC to Sungai Buloh and then rested in Tapah where we bought ‘jambu air’ for the family. For dinner, we stopped in Tambun for seafood before heading back to Penang and call it a day.

Why I ditch BN by Chua Jui Meng

    Chua Jui Meng
    Jul 18, 09 5:44pm

There has been much speculation recently in the media as what my
next move in politics would be. Today I make one of the most important
decisions of my life, to leave the MCA and to join PKR. A few days ago, I resigned as chairman of MCA Bakri division, a post I have held for 23 years, freeing me to undertake a fresh struggle for the realisation of my vision for reforms. These are contained in the manifestos I wrote during the MCA presidential elections of 2005 and 2008.

Today I announce that I am resigning as a member of MCA. Now I announce I am joining PKR. Today I am persuaded that I am standing on the right side of history at a defining and critical moment of our nation’s history. What has compelled me to do so? The 2008 general elections witnessed the passionate desire of 52 percent of Peninsular Malaysians for change. This astounding voting power gave birth for the first time to a two-party system. As a result, we have seen a hitherto unseen phenomena of Umno leaders saying “if we do not change, the people will change the government”. Out of this desperation, Malaysians see the Umno-led government making some movement towards appeasing the
people. That is the fruit of people’s power.

    Two-party system undermined by Umno

Today we see this nascent two-party system under threat, the unrelenting harassment by the Umno-led government to divide and destroy the two-party system, the hard-earned gains of last year’s general election. We see the abuse of power in the use of the federal
institutions to harass, persecute and prosecute the leaders of the opposition, institutions that were supposed to protect the rights of the citizens of Malaysia . The tragic death of 30-year-old Teo Beng Hock is the consequence of one such institution going overboard in its action.

The seizure of power in Perak, the wooing of PAS by Umno to form a unity government based on race and religion, the farcical persecution and prosecution of Anwar Ibrahim once again for sodomy despite the reports of two hospitals – one from Hospital Kuala Lumpur – to the contrary, all these are indicative of a pattern of attempts to topple this precious two-party system.

It seeks to remove the people’s new-found choice to choose between two political fronts. If this conspiracy succeeds Umno will continue to be the dominant political party going back to its old ways unfettered. It is in
these times of trouble and crisis for PKR and Pakatan Rakyat that has precipitated my decision to join them. It is in these difficult circumstances that I want to contribute in humility to the preservation of this two-party system. My hope is that ordinary Malaysians will stand up and be counted in the struggle to protect, preserve and promote the
growth of this system. Count me in.

There are other reasons why I am joining PKR. I see in Anwar a kindred spirit seeking for change, for deep and genuine reforms. I know also that multiracial political parties caring for all races is the way forward. I know that I am leaving the comfort and security of my present life for a road less travelled, a tough and rough road and that ahead of me awaits hardships. I am prepared for this last hurrah of my life. May God bless our endeavours, our struggle.

Dr Mahathir on Sex at 80 and Internet Pornography

Food for Thought, General, News 2 Comments

Most Malaysians expect former strongman Dr Mahathir Mohamad – still alert and sharp at 84 – to rise to the occasion in any speaking engagements.

The 200-strong crowd at the Bloggers Universe Malaysia 2009, packed inside a bar-cum-conference hall in Subang Jaya’s Lakeview Club on May 16, was not disappointed.

The former prime minister, a person who has little time for self-reflection, was however unusually candid in his one-hour speech.

Speaking off the cuff, he lamented his pledge not to censor the Internet. He believes certain parts of the cyberspace should be declared off limits, in particular pornography.

Mahathir confessed, with a mischievous sparkle in his eyes, that he had surf porn sites just “to see how easy it is for a child” to do so.

“My God, it was so easy,” he exclaimed. “All you’ve got to do is to put ‘SEX’ and you get everything, all the filth in the world would be shown to you – in motion.

“Now, I think this is very bad. I mean, adults like me who is 80 years old and quite incapable – that’s all right,” he said, leaving the floor in stitches.

“I’m not confessing anything,” he smiled. “Wait until you reach 80, then you will know.”

    More laughter from the crowd.

“You know, we are born together, we grow up together, we play together, we enjoy life together, we grow old together,” he paused and then came the clincher.

“But why must that thing die before me,” he said, bringing down the house.

Mahathir, who obviously enjoyed telling the joke, was grinning from ear to ear.

“Anyway, for me it’s quite harmless (to view porn). Looking at these things, you really have nostalgia … nothing wakes up at all, everything is dead,” he said, referring to his inability to ‘rise to occasion’ in this case.

But he readily conceded that government censorship of the Internet is “impossible”.

“I wish we can control… When we started the Multimedia Super Corridor, we promise the people that we will not censor the Internet. But at times, I regretted this.”

Tale of an excitable 12-year-old boy

Mahathir then went on to give the example of a 12-year-old having access to Internet porn.

“He gets very excited. It’s alright for him to get excited and maybe get rid of his excitement in some easy way. But we are seeing a lot…,” he screeched to a halt when he heard nervous giggles from the audience.

Then in his grandfatherly way, he admonished, “You must have done it yourself.”

Again, the crowd roared. He continued with his tale of the ‘excited’ teen.

“He may assuage his feelings by raping the nearest person that he comes across. And sometimes, there have been cases of killings, of child molestations, babies being molested and killed after that. I think it has a lot to do with the access to pornography.

“This becomes worse because a lot people in Malaysia are addicted to drugs. A combination of drugs plus Internet pornography is a sure formula for crime unlimited.

“We should ban this thing. We should ban pornographic material from getting into Internet.”

He also advised the crowd to stick to the facts and not to fabricate news. “Not all bloggers are good like me,” he said tongue in cheek.

But Internet censorship is out, he added.

“While in the past, we can close down the printing shops, we can seize their papers, we can do a lot of things. Today it is just impossible.

“The only thing I am glad is that I’m no longer the prime minister. So this is not my problem. It is the problem of the government of today, the prime minister of today. I wish them good luck.”

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee

    Food for Thought 1 Comment

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee .

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was..

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous “yes.”

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

“Now,” said the professor as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house
    and your car.

The sand is everything else—the small stuff. “If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

“Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents.. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first—the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee
represented. The professor smiled and said, “I’m glad you asked.”

The coffee just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.”
