Stacks of bags of stuffs to be put away for more walking space, but they are now under the table containing my fax machine. Used papers strewn all over the table and they will be collected as recycled paper to sell for some profit. But for the moment, I placed them there as it is more convenient.

Behind my workstation are bags and plastic bags of things like CDs, files, empty recycled bags, papers, office stationaries, etc. I think I really need a makeover with a new cube and proper cubicle to place all my office stuffs neatly on my workspace so that I can retrieve them without much effort. Help me!

When I was working and gainfully employed in Singapore, I went to a jewellery shop and bought myself a small ring from diamond rings jewelers. I just broke up with my classmate of 6 years and to overcome the loneliness, I started shopping and bought stuffs to feel good and to pamper myself. But the feel good effect lasts as long as I was still in the shop. And come month end, I have to fork up a lot of money just to pay my credit card bills. During that time, I was living from paycheck to paycheck and could hardly save up for my future needs. At times I was broke, but now having gone through it all, I am wiser now and don’t anyhow splurge like that anymore.

Outdoor Furniture

I have attended girl guides jamboree and other outdoor camps in Penang and Adelaide. I have slept in huge tents with sleeping bags inside during near winter in Douglas Scrub, Adelaide. I have also won first prize in combined outdoor cooking competition with other schools. I brought back a huge 3 feet tall challenge trophy and put in the house for 1 year before returning it to the organizer. During the outdoor camp, we don’t have luxuries like Adirondack chairs, Picnic Tables but we do have Park Benches. There were in-built tents set up by the government in public parks and you can see couples taking shelter under them and for some private moments to hug and do what lovers do. They were oblivious to us young teenagers and too engaged in their own activities that they don’t seem to notice us looking curiously at them.

The outdoor camping experience was something to remember but if you ask me to do it all over again, I would rather stay at home and sleep under my silk duvet with the air-conditioner turned on. I have transformed over the years with more things at my disposal. Now I contribute to the family coffers instead of begging for pocket money every month. Times have changed.

Little Girl Dresses

My mum used to work for a family business in Penang Road selling little girl dresses and cosmetics. Well, the shop has been closed down now since one of the brothers wanted full share from it taking into account that he supposedly contributed the most to the company. So, mum no longer has a job as a cashier and resorted to buying and selling shares in the trading market. The little girl dresses she brought back free were very lovely and they fit my size. Mum also used to pamper us with toys and lots of them. She also bought many romance books which my second sister read the most and that is why she is now an English lecturer in Suchou, China. She has a very good command of the English language taking into consideration of the grammar, vocabulary, spelling, et cetera.

Now for all 3 of us siblings, it is pay back time to our parents for their efforts to bring us up and their financial support for us all this while up to university. I also took up a study loan in the university and slowly paid it back in 3 years time. Now I am loan free for my studies but currently financing the loan for my car which is an olive green Myvi. In Malaysia, you need to buy a car in order to move around because there is no cheap efficient transport system unlike Singapore with its MRT link.

I have iPad 2 by Apple which was bought from a Tablet PC Store in Gurney Plaza, Penang. I use it to earn money now and then and the income earned is more than enough to cover the monthly fees. I am happily occupied surfing sites and reading up in financial news using my iPad 2. I also have iPhone 4 and use it very often to check emails and do other stuffs. Sometimes I will WhatsApp my sister in Suchou, China to keep in touch with her. Life has been a blessing for me year in year out and I am grateful for God’s grace and providence.

In the Bible, we are told to keep working until the day we die. So we should not take early retirement and be a burden to others when we are old. That is why I want to be financially independent and still able to contribute to my parents for their upkeep and lifestyle for many more years to go.
