Now Wordpress 2.3 is out. You can upgrade with the following steps:

1) Download WP 2.3

2) Backup your blog

3) Deactivate all plugins

4) Upload the new Wordpress 2.3 using FTP

5) When the files are all FTP-ed, click on the plugin

6) The Wordpress upgrade page appears

7) Activate the basic plugins you need.

Voila, you are done.

Using Wordpress blogs is such a chore. They come up with the latest upgrade all the time and every few weeks that you need to upgrade with the files. Thank goodness, I have some blogs using Google’s blogger and security issues are well taken care of. I don’t have to worry about fixing bugs and upgrading to the latest wordpress files. Blogger is automatic and user-friendly. So if you are a first time blogger, why not start with signing up with www.blogger.com and get familiarize with the dashboard?

If you write paid post for PayPerPost and other programs, you might like to install a WordPress plugin to count the number of words in your post. You might want to download the Leprakhaun’s Wordpress Script to your blog. The process is simple. Just download the PHP script to your computer and FTP or upload the script to your web site with Wordpress Plugins folder. Login to your Wordpress and activate the plugin from the dash board.

Once it is activated, you can see the additional feature of “Calculate Words” below the editor of the dashboard of your Wordpress as circled in red in the picture above. Just type the words and click on “Calculate words” and voila, the number of words will be displayed. This plugin is easy to use and very neat. I have been looking for one like this for some time to use for my pay to blog activities.

There is a new Wordpress Theme Generator that allows you to customize the look and feel of your wordpress layout. You can change the background to different types of floral designs and colors and the side bars with any color you like. Now this is groovy and you will see new themes of this type of layouts soon as more bloggers apply this template for their web sites and blogs. Just check it out and test the features available.

I am very pleased my new blog is finally installed with a groovy new Wordpress theme with interchangeable neon colors for the top banner.  This is a good start to 2007.  Thanks to my friend who helped installed for me as I was just too busy blogging while holding my current job from a home office. I just don’t have the time to set it up using Wordpress script unlike the previous blog which comes in complete files.
