Seasons

Guest post by Gerard Mcdaniel

First quoted in the Bible and then made into an iconic song by the Beatles, “to everything there is a season”. In this part of the world, the four seasons all hold something distinctly different. Summer brings long sunny days that are usually filled with the sound of children playing outside. Autumn is a delight for the senses with the changing of the temperature, the visual display put on by the tress and the cornucopia of tastes that come with Thanksgiving. Winter brings shorter days that are usually spent huddled around a fireplace with the ones we love. But Spring is all about new beginnings and that’s exactly where I am in my life now. With a newly failed marriage behind me, it’s time to start anew. With the prospects of new jobs and new places to live, it’s nice to know that no matter where I go, I can always get Internet service with wildblue. Although leaving the life that I’ve known for the last four years behind me is hard, I’ve just got to keep moving ahead and telling myself that just as the seasons change, so too will this stage of my life.

Quite Tired This Morning

Yesterday, I went to the new apartment to mop the floor, wipe the tv cabinet, windows, kitchen, etc. After than it was dinner time and then off to office work churning out letters after letters, quotations and invoice. I worked until quit late at night and this morning, I am feeling quite tired already. Today, I have a sponsored post to write. Tomorrow is my second sister’s birthday and tonight we plan to dine at a place serving Indian Food buffet. Mondays and Tuesdays are hawker fare, Wednesdays are steamboat while Thursdays serve Indian food and Fridays for wine and dine which is double the normal rate.

Directory Journal

I was browsing through the internet when I came across directory journal where you can click on the link and find out more information. In a short while, I will be going out, need to pack my bags and visit a client’s place and another condominium in Bangsar for a sports court resurfacing before having high tea as my lunch in Mandarin Oriental and then head back home in Penang, about 200 miles away.

It is unavoidable to prevent traveling as my nature of job is such that we have to travel frequently including all our workers and legalized Bangladeshi workers. These are the people that get the job done in a timely manner and they are hardworking and loyal – unlike the Malay and Chinese workers who have quit on their own for greener pastures and easier work.

I also have to go to Tanjung Malim on the way back from Kuala Lumpur. Anyway, working in a home office has its benefits. I get to work in my pajamas and do some writing work part time to earn extra for my retirement down the road. You don’t have to be old to talk about retirement – it can start the moment you get your first pay check and are gainfully employed.

Now in KL

I am now in Kuala Lumpur for a business trip and visited a few places including window shopping in Sunway Pyramid which was very well decorated with Chinese New Year themed lights at night. I did not buy anything, but had dinner there. Rather a bit tired from all that waiting in the car and traveling. Today we will visit another client to collect a cheque for work done and in progress. And I got an offer to write a post for some cash today from a web site which is my 6th order since I joined in December last year in 2011. Hope to stay longer in KL but I have to go back soon either this evening or tomorrow.

It is something like Groupon with fantastic deals and attractive discounts off the retail price.

Other than unbeatable deals, there are lots of pertinent information as you surf around. Moreover, they have 24/7 round the clock customer service support. I might just check out some of the attractive deals for my new year shopping this year and see what they have in store for me as I need to furnish my new apartment before renting it out. Now is a busy time for me.

Got a Few Gigs Here and There

I have a few gigs to do here and there from the various programs online. Sometimes there are none while on other days, there are a few opportunities. Today there are 4 writing opps but I give them a pass as I was more in the mood to surf around than to write. Sometimes working at home for too long makes one slothful, but with the need for some pocket money, I need to continue to be diligent to look around for opportunities. I have spent thousands of dollars on my new apartment with furnishings and minor renovations. The money goes out so fast like a river of water. That is why I need to replace the income that I have spent.

Social Ads

I love using social ads to promote my blogs and sites online. Linknami is a service where advertisers can connect with social experts and social media influencers and post custom messages on their Twitter profile, Facebook personal profile or Facebook fan page for a fixed fee. I have been using a few of the social media like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. I also have an account at MySpace but no longer use it – so it stays dormant as of now. But if you like to get buzz on your side and some exposure to many visitors, then social ads are one of the methods to get lots of traffic.

As we all know, traffic is the key to getting business and income. That is why you need to spend about one third of your budget on promotion and advertisements besides the one third on website development and another one third on maintenance. There is no hard and fast rule about it but this is just a general tip on how you should allocate your budget for online ventures.

Now with Google + being developed and running since September 2011, it is a formidable competitor to Facebook. It will have 400 million users by end of this year compared to Facebooks’ 800 million users. Every day 692,000 new users will sign up on Google + and it is a free service that comes with Gmail. When you do well, competitors will come in and copy your ideas and perhaps even improve on them. They want a bigger slice of the cake to eat.

Happy New Year 2012

I was somewhere in town but did not wake up to see the fireworks displayed at KOMTAR, New World Park and Penang Times Square. Was too tired and fast asleep then after traveling to a resort near Lumut for tennis courts and came back the same day. The roads were very winding and my colleague drove quite fast negotiating the bends. Goodbye year of the Rabbit and welcome year of the dragon. To my readers, I would like to wish you a Prosperous and Happy New Year in 2012. We get to be a year older and wiser. That also means more white hairs on the crowns on our heads.

Modern Parent

I am not a parent but when I was a baby, my parents bought modern, sophisticated and chic baby products from ModParent. They brought us all up separately. I was brought up by my late paternal granny while my second sister is my dad’s pet and the youngest is my mother’s favorite. We all have different treatment and grew up environment even though we stayed in the same roof.

If you are expecting a baby soon, then you can check out the link above and start shopping away with the best prices to compare from the various places like Amazon, one of the biggest USA online retailer. I am an affiliate for Amazon and have earned some affiliate commissions from it before. The happiest moment in a family is the new arrival of a baby. Seeing its eyes is a miracle of the creation of life. This has been God’s plan all along. To multiply and fill the earth.

As for me, I am happily single and will remain single for my entire life. I don’t think I will ever get married or have a family. I enjoy my present status quo too much with more freedom to do the thing that I love such as traveling and to concentrate on my online ventures. Every day there are offers that I cannot refuse. The rewards are good too. They are fulfilling and complete my life. There is all the more reason to check out the internet and be connected to the world wide web. There are many opportunities if you just look around you.

Loving My Work

I love my work at home office very much. For most people, the definition of JOB is Just Over Broke. But for me it is Joy On Board! This is one of the best things that have happened to my professional life and career. I also get paid commissions from the projects that I bring in via my web site or by visiting clients. This is my full time job in a soho or small office home office.

And being able to type fast helps a lot too. I can also moonlight writing articles in my free time for some extra pocket money. I love this dream job of mine since February 2004 until now and will continue to many more years to come.
