I am thinking of buying a new mattress at home as the current one that I am using is quite hard and narrow. It was bought by dad in 2000 when I returned to Penang to rest and relax. He paid about RM350 for it and that is all he was willing to spend. Now as I am gainfully employed to work from a home office, I have more savings to buy a better one to sleep on.

I think choosing a suitable mattress is important as your sleep should not be taken lightly. When you have enough rest overnight, then you can perform at your utmost best the next day when you need to work. Look at it as a form of investment for your comfort. I am now sleeping on the bed my late grandmother used to sleep on while my youngest sister is sleeping on my former bed. We are room-mates ever since I came back to stay with my parents.

I am also happy that my savings are slowing increasing every month and I get paid twice a month – on the 1st and on the 15th. Right now, I don’t simply splurge on anything that I fancy as I need to save up for retirement so that my money will last a lifetime and during retirement.
