Singapore’s CPF or Central Providend Fund and Malaysia’s EPF, Employee’s Providend Fund or KWSP in Malay for Kewangan Simpanan Pekerja are both a world of difference. I have both accounts in CPF and KWSP which I can log on online for both to check my dividend and amount accumulated over the years. I have worked about 6 years in Singapore and also another 6 years in Malaysia and my income is deducted monthly a certain percentage for contribution to my golden years’ savings for old age. When I check my Singapore’s CPF online, I see that the Singapore Government has credited 3.5% of dividend for last year 2008 in January 2009. However, when I log in to my KWSP account and even though now is the month of March, my dividend for 2008 has not been credited yet. The system says (Dividen Belum Diisytiharkan)
Is the Malaysian Government too poor or simply cannot care less attitude when it comes to employees money? We are ordinary citizens who have to work hard for our money and savings and the Malaysian goverment could not be bothered to contribute dividend for our KWSP. What a world of difference between the really concerned Singapore government and the Malaysian government.

CPF pays out a fixed rate, so the dividend can be accounted for at the end of the year..EPF dividend rate depends on the returns on investments and some investments may not have their books ready before a certain date, this may account for the delay

I believe that withdrawal are allowed on medical grounds from CPF. What are the chronic illnesses that would allow one to withdraw his CPF? How do they term illness to be chronic?
Steven: You have to check with CPF on this matter. I believe they have a list of illnesses that allows you to withdraw pre-maturely for your hospital bills.

Saya pernah bekerja di Singapore pd thn 1983. Setahu saya rakyat M’sia boleh mengluarkan cpf mereka ketika berumur 50 thn. Adakah undang2 itu masih terpakai sekarang?
Hi Diana, I just started working in SIngapore. I was shocked to find out there is a CPF contribution of ceiling limit for salary at $5000. Compared to Malaysia, i think there is no such limit for KWSP. That will not be fair for employees in SIngapore coz the Singaporean employer only need to pay 16% of $5000 even though the employee could be earning at $8000/mth in SIngapore. RIght?
Why there is such CPF ceiling salary in SIngapore?
I am not aware of such ceiling limit. I have left the Singapore workforce 10 years ago.
